Senior AI Researcher JB-5377

• White Sage is seeking an Applied AI Researcher to lead end-to-end AI evaluation projects focused on real-world business problems. In this role, you will design and execute rigorous experiments, develop models and evaluation frameworks, analyze results, and translate findings into actionable insights that directly inform investment decisions.

• You will work with frontier large language models (LLMs), modern deep learning techniques, and classical machine learning and statistical methods—selecting the right approach for each challenge. Engagements are focused, multi-month research projects requiring strong technical depth, experimental rigor, and the ability to communicate complex results to both technical and business stakeholders.

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Neuroscience, Brain Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field.

• Doctorate or Postdoctoral research experience.

• 3+ years of post-Ph.D. research experience in academia, an industry research organization, or a frontier AI lab.

• A strong, independent research track record with publications or well-received work presented at leading conferences or journals.

• Demonstrated expertise in a substantive research domain beyond LLM application or prompt engineering.

• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, linear algebra, optimization, and machine learning theory.

• Proven ability to formulate research hypotheses, design methodologies, execute experiments, analyze results, and draw rigorous conclusions.

• Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch, with hands-on experience in both classical machine learning/statistical methods and modern deep learning and LLM-based approaches within the past 2–3 years.

• Ability to independently lead ambiguous, open-ended research projects from concept to conclusion with minimal supervision.

• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise research reports for both technical and business audiences.
