IT Infrastructure & System Administrator

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Infrastructure & Security Engineer to join for a short-term project focused on mapping and securing internal infrastructure and applications.

The role combines technical infrastructure work, cloud technologies, and security. The engineer will be responsible for discovering internal applications, mapping VMware and cloud environments, identifying security gaps, and supporting infrastructure hardening initiatives.

This position requires someone who is technically curious, comfortable working across IT, cloud, and security environments, and capable of collaborating with multiple engineering teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure & VMware Mapping

• Perform a complete inventory and assessment of VMware/vCenter environments.

• Map virtual machines, services, permissions, and infrastructure assets.

• Identify unused or obsolete servers and recommend cleanup actions.

• Tag infrastructure assets according to organizational standards.

• Support infrastructure hardening initiatives by reviewing permissions and improving security configurations.

Internal Application Mapping

• Discover and document internally developed applications.

• Work directly with engineering teams to identify internal tools and services.

• Create and maintain an inventory of internal applications.

• Identify internally developed AI-powered tools and understand how they access and utilize company data.

Cloud & Security Review

• Review AWS and GCP environments.

• Analyze DNS records and cloud resources.

• Compare infrastructure across cloud and DNS environments.

• Assess whether applications follow security best practices.

• Identify externally exposed services and potential security risks.

Security Support

• Support security visibility initiatives across the organization.

• Assist the CISO organization with infrastructure security assessments.

• Participate in future projects related to Detection Engineering, SOC operations, security monitoring, and data visibility.

Requirements

Must Have

• 2–5 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, System Administration, Cloud Infrastructure, or Security Engineering.

• Strong understanding of Windows and/or Linux infrastructure.

• Hands-on experience with VMware and vCenter.

• Experience working with AWS.

• Familiarity with GCP.

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, IP addressing, Load Balancers, Firewalls, Routing).

• Experience with Active Directory and Identity & Access Management concepts.

• Ability to investigate unfamiliar technical environments independently.

• Strong documentation and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with multiple engineering teams.

• Background in Cyber Security.

• Experience with Cloud Security.

• Experience with Google SecOps (Chronicle).

• Experience working with SIEM platforms.

• Experience with infrastructure hardening.

• Experience with asset inventory or CMDB projects.

• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).

• Experience with AI governance or internal AI applications.
