Chamelio is revolutionizing legal tech with an AI-powered Legal Intelligence Platform trusted by some of the world's fastest-growing companies, including Wiz, Socure, Appsflyer and Monday. We help in-house legal teams accelerate negotiations, reduce risk, and unlock institutional knowledge through automated workflows.
About the job
We're looking for an Applied AI Attorney to define what "good" means for our product - and then build it. Sitting inside our R&D team alongside AI engineers, you'll shape how our agents reason about legal work, decide how features should behave in the messy cases that matter, and turn years of legal judgment into systems that can reason, decide, and execute at scale.
You'll become one of our customers. Every day you'll step into the shoes of an experienced in-house lawyer, recreating real commercial work, challenging the product with difficult negotiations, ambiguous requests, and unexpected edge cases, and helping transform those insights into product that legal teams trust.
You're not reviewing outputs from the sidelines; you're deciding what the product should do and driving it there. If you're a practicing lawyer who'd rather build the system than use it, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
• Own the legal quality of the product - you set the bar our agents are held to and have the mandate to continuously raise it
• Design the evaluation systems that prove we're getting it right, enabling the team to ship quickly with confidence
• Define how features should behave: what great contract analysis looks like, which edge cases matter, where the product should push back instead of guessing, and how an exceptional in-house lawyer would approach the problem
• Act as one of our customers by recreating real legal workflows, testing complex scenarios, and uncovering edge cases before they reach production
• Work hands-on with prompts, agent instructions, and workflow design alongside our AI engineers
• Diagnose why an output fell short - weak retrieval, incorrect reasoning, missing context, or flawed workflow design - and drive the solution with the engineers who own it
• Bring real legal work into the product by creating the scenarios, datasets, and reference material our agents are built and evaluated against
• Influence the product roadmap with a practitioner's perspective on where legal teams actually lose time, introduce risk, and need better automation
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to continuously improve how our AI systems perform in the real world
What You'll Bring
• 5-10 years of legal experience, preferably as in-house counsel in a high-growth B2B SaaS company
• Licensed to practice law, with substantive depth in commercial contracts, transactional work, privacy, compliance, or regulatory counseling
• Passion to own and deliver - you take full responsibility for the quality of what ships and drive problems from symptom to resolution
• Curiosity and adoption of AI tools - you already use LLMs in your legal work and have strong opinions about where they succeed and where they break
• Product instincts - you can translate legal judgment into clear product behavior, evaluation criteria, and specifications that engineers can build against
• Comfort with ambiguity and unfamiliar technical territory, with the ability to learn quickly
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate directly with engineers in a fast-paced startup environment
Bonus Points
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG, or agentic workflows
• Previous product experience, or having built internal tooling as a lawyer
• Early-stage startup experience
• In-house legal experience
Why Chamelio?
• Make an impact: The quality bar you set becomes the one legal teams at leading companies rely on every day
• Ship fast: Work in a lean, high-velocity environment where you see your work in production quickly
• Own your work: Take full ownership of meaningful projects from conception to deployment
• Grow with us: Join early and shape both the product and company as we scale
