proteanTecs is looking for a Software Tech Lead to join the ride as we spearhead the next revolution in electronics!
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team delivering cross-platform system/desktop software for Linux and Windows, including Python backend services and an Electron-based desktop UI built with Angular.
• Own the technical design of backend components, APIs, IPC/RPC flows and multi-process services for real-time data collection, processing and presentation.
• Guide frontend development in Angular and ensure clean integration and reliable data flow between UI and backend.
• Contribute hands-on to development while providing technical leadership through architecture decisions, code reviews, debugging and mentoring.
• Contribute to high-level embedded communication with devices and boards, working closely with hardware and firmware teams on system integration.
• Drive software quality and delivery through performance tuning, automated testing, CI/CD and build/release processes.
• Plan, prioritize and coordinate execution with product, QA, hardware and firmware teams.
• Build and develop the team: hiring, onboarding, mentoring and performance management; continuously improve engineering practices.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of relevant software development experience in full-stack, backend or desktop application development.
• 2+ years of technical or team leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, driving technical decisions and coordinating delivery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong experience building backend services or APIs and working with IPC/RPC or multi-process architectures.
• Experience developing software on Linux and Windows, including desktop packaging/build flows.
• Working knowledge of frontend development, with ability to lead and contribute to an Angular-based UI using TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
• Hands-on experience with Git, debugging, automated testing and standard development workflows.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications
• Experience developing desktop applications with Electron.
• Experience with real-time dashboards, data visualization or UI performance optimization.
• Experience integrating Python with C/C++ or other hardware-facing libraries.
• Familiarity with embedded communication with devices and boards, and with hardware/software integration.
