Original listing · kept for referenceQuantum Source is making quantum computers a reality. We are a young, dynamic, and extraordinary multidisciplinary company which brings together expertise in quantum physics, electro-optics, mechanical engineering, hardware, firmware, and software.
As a System Architect you will take ownership of the high-level system architecture for a first-of-its-kind photonic quantum computer. You will translate product goals and physical principles into system requirements and architecture design. The computer architecture combines quantum physics, photonic ICs, hardware, software, and opto-mechanics into a unified functional system.
We are looking for a highly skilled, experienced architect with a holistic perspective who can navigate requirements from multiple technological domains and balance trade-offs between them. This role requires a quick learner capable of diving into unfamiliar subjects and providing technical leadership without formal authority, working effectively with physicists, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
A strong team player who will contribute meaningfully to the system group’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a holistic system perspective by defining requirements and designing high-level architecture. Ensure scalability and alignment with all product requirements.
Work with cross-functional partners to define system architecture, detailed system and subsystem requirements.
Lead system-level trade-off analyses across performance, scalability, integration complexity, and technical risks.
Develop comprehensive system designs, including hardware interfaces, configuration, and performance specifications.
Ensure seamless integration across system components to meet performance and functionality targets.
Evaluate new technologies for potential use in system design.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or an equivalent field (advanced degree preferred).
8+ years of experience in system architecture within multidisciplinary technology fields (system architecture, HW, Embedded SW, Algorithms, Opto-mechanics, etc.).
Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead without formal authority.
A quick learner who can dive deeply into unfamiliar topics and is comfortable navigating uncertain and unstructured environments.
Strong understanding of system design principles and practices.
Experience in writing detailed specifications and system documentation.
Strong R&D background and experience with multidisciplinary integration.
Experience with electro-optical system – an advantage.
