About the Role: We are an innovative, seed-stage nanotechnology start-up developing high-end integrated photonic systems. We are seeking a Lead/Senior Laser Engineer to spearhead the measurement, characterization, and development of our core optical technology. This is a pivotal role requiring a blend of deep hands-on experimental expertise, advanced simulation capabilities, and the vision to lead a product from Proof-of-Concept (POC) to production-ready systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development and measurement of cutting-edge nanophotonic devices at the forefront of technology.

    • Design and construct complex optical architectures, including micro-integrated optical devices and fiber-to-chip alignment systems.

    • Perform high-precision laser alignment and characterization using Solid-State CW, Femto (ultrafast), and Fiber lasers.

    • Conduct advanced optical system design, analysis, and simulation (including spatiotemporal pulse propagation) using Zemax, COMSOL, and Python/MATLAB.

    • Manage the full product lifecycle: from R&D and prototyping to mass production, including yield analysis and system calibration.

    • Solve complex challenges in nanofabrication and nano-characterization as part of a high-performing expert team.

    • Collaborate closely with the CTO to define technical milestones and mentor junior engineers.

    Requirements:

    • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Physics (specializing in Nonlinear Optics or Ultrafast Lasers), Electro-optics, or Electrical Engineering.

    • Extensive hands-on experience in setting up large-scale optical systems for characterization and manipulation.

    • Proven track record in developing laser systems: design, simulations (3D BPM, pulse propagation), fabrication, assembly, and testing.

    • Deep expertise in nonlinear optical materials and high-power ultrafast multistage laser sources.

    • Advanced proficiency in industry-standard software: Zemax, Solidworks, Python, and MATLAB.

    • Experience in IP generation and patent drafting within the electro-optics field.
