Mechanical Design Engineer

ELTA Systems is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer – Automation Systems to join the Mechanical Engineering Directorate.

The role focuses on the design and development of advanced automated test systems, combining mechanical design, automation, robotics, and multidisciplinary engineering solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design electronic enclosures and precision test fixtures integrating electronic boards, connectors, mechanisms, linear guides, and pneumatic components

• Lead engineering processes for the development of automated test systems and fixtures (Jigs) for various testing stages

• Create technical specifications, manufacturing and assembly drawings, and product structures (BOMs)

• Define, design, and implement automation and robotic systems, including collaborative robots (cobots) and robotic arms

• Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers in Israel and abroad

Requirements:

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering – mandatory

• Specialization in Mechatronics – an advantage

• Full proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks / NX) – mandatory

• Proven experience in mechanical design of automation and control-integrated systems – mandatory

• Proven experience in designing precision mechanisms, linear guides, and motion systems – an advantage

• Knowledge of pneumatics, motion control, and PLCs – an advantage

• Familiarity with robotic systems such as KUKA, UR, Fanuc, ABB, and similar platforms – an advantage

• Strong technical writing skills in Hebrew and English

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Strong sense of responsibility and excellent interpersonal skills

About the Department:

The Mechanical Engineering Directorate at ELTA Systems is responsible for the mechanical design and development of advanced ELTA systems. The engineering activities incorporate innovative technologies in packaging, structures, installations, and thermal management.

The team performs a wide range of activities including mechanical design, analyses, simulations, and validation testing to ensure product performance and reliability.

The successful candidate will join the Mechanical Engineering organization and take part in developing advanced automated test systems for some of the most innovative technological projects in Israel and worldwide.

The role combines creative engineering thinking, precision design, multidisciplinary integration, and work in a dynamic, challenging technological environment.
