The Role

VYBS is looking for a founding Core Data Scientist to build and lead our applied data science function from the ground up.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Tel Aviv. Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll own high-impact ML systems end-to-end — from research and modeling to production deployment. With hundreds of thousands of active users and rapid growth, your work will directly influence revenue, user experience, and platform integrity.

This role offers rare early-stage ownership: you'll define the architecture, set the technical direction, and build the systems that become the backbone of how VYBS operates at scale.

What You'll Do

• Found and shape VYBS's applied data science team, setting standards for modeling, experimentation, and production ML.

• Work with rich, high-volume behavioral data from millions of play sessions across the entire mobile gaming industry.

• Design, build, and deploy real-time models for marketplace matching, dynamic pricing, personalized recommendations, fraud detection, and game economy simulation.

• Own the full model lifecycle — from problem framing and feature engineering to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Leadership to identify high-leverage opportunities and translate them into measurable outcomes.

• Operate in a highly agentic R&D environment, moving fast and shipping with confidence.

• Drive experimentation culture: define metrics, design tests, and synthesize results to guide product decisions.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with clean, production-quality code as a baseline.

• 3+ years of hands-on ML engineering or applied data science experience.

• Expertise in agentic R&D workflows (Claude Code or similar tooling).

• Strong foundation in machine learning and statistics — you can go deep when the problem demands it.

• Experience building and deploying models in production environments, not just notebooks.

• A bias toward shipping, iterating, and taking ownership in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

• Comfort working across the stack — from raw data to live inference.

Nice to Have

• Experience in mobile gaming, ad tech, or marketplace platforms.

• Familiarity with real-time ML systems and low-latency inference.

• Experience with fraud detection or trust & safety modeling.

• Working knowledge of recommendation systems or dynamic pricing.

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, or similar data infrastructure tools.

• Background in behavioral economics or game theory.
