Original listing · kept for referenceWho are we?
We are Ycon, a boutique DevOps consulting company that focuses on providing full-
scope DevOps solutions & services, training, and more.
We focus on providing DevOps & ALM services to help companies implement DevOps
solutions.
Our mission
Help our customers face the challenges through the development process, provide
companies the ground to tackle their development challenges, and enable them the
opportunity to take their DevOps to the next level.
The Role & The Responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated DevOps Engineer in the northern district of Israel to join our
team. This is a full-time, onsite position - the candidate must be able to work on-site daily.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their career with hands-on
experience supporting a real development environment - owning CI/CD pipelines, Linux and
Windows infrastructure, virtualization, and automation.
We're looking for someone mature and self-sufficient who can run their own day and work
directly with the client - not an entry-level junior.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain Jenkins pipelines (declarative and scripted) using
Groovy, including shared libraries, custom pipeline steps, and plugin configuration.
• Administer and troubleshoot Jenkins infrastructure - controllers, agents/nodes,
credentials, and job orchestration.
• Configure and maintain Linux and Windows systems, including in-depth
troubleshooting at the OS, service, networking, and filesystem level.
• Build, configure, and maintain virtual machines using VMware (ESXi/vSphere) and
other virtualization platforms.
• Manage VMware environments including snapshots, cloning, resource allocation,
and full VM lifecycle management.
• Maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure supporting development, build, and
CI/CD environments.
• Write and maintain automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Groovy, and/or Python) to
handle backups, provisioning, system health checks, and pipeline tooling.
• Set up and maintain GIT repositories, branching strategies, and version control
workflows.
• Own and support build and compilation server environments, optimizing for reliability
and build speed
• Work closely with developers to design, troubleshoot, and improve build, deployment,
and infrastructure workflows.
Requirements
• 2-3 years of Proven experience as a system administrator (Linux and Windows in
production), plus at least 1-2 year of hands-on DevOps.
• Hands-on Jenkins and Groovy - you can write and debug pipeline scripts, configure
jobs, and manage plugins/agents (this is a must-have).
• Strong systems knowledge of Linux (administration, networking, services,
permissions, troubleshooting) and solid familiarity with Windows administration.
• Familiarity with virtualization concepts and platforms such as VMware, VirtualBox, or
Hyper-V.
• Scripting ability in Bash and/or PowerShell and Groovy; Python is a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of GIT and version control workflows (branching, merging, CI
integration).
• Experience with hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Professional maturity and good communication - able to work onsite, embedded with
a client, and represent Ycon well.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving development environment and willingness to learn
new tools.
Nice to Have
• Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, or vCenter administration.
• Exposure to other CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, etc.).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) or orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with network configuration (VLANs, switches, basic routing).
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Linux+, VMware VCP, RHCSA, or
Jenkins-related certs are a plus but not required.
