About the Role We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to join us at an exciting stage of growth. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves building products end to end, leading by example, and helping a strong team do its best work. You will combine technical execution with people leadership, working closely with engineers, product, and design to deliver high-impact solutions in a fast-paced startup environment. What You’ll Do • Lead and mentor an engineering team, supporting both professional growth and day-to-day execution • Stay hands-on in the code and actively contribute to the design, development, and delivery of core product features • Drive end-to-end development across frontend and backend systems • Partner closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to translate business and user needs into scalable solutions • Help define technical direction, architecture, engineering standards, and development best practices • Improve team processes, execution, and delivery quality as the company scales • Foster a strong engineering culture built on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning • Provide professional and personal mentorship to team members, supporting their growth, development, and success • Play a key role in shaping both the product and the engineering organization in a small, growing company

Requirements: What We’re Looking For • 5+ years of software development experience, with strong full-stack development capabilities • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams • Proven experience as a hands-on team lead who combines technical depth with strong people leadership • Experience building and shipping production-grade web applications • Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, and engineering best practices • Familiarity with AI technologies, cloud environments, and regulated frameworks such as SOC 2 and HIPAA • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, startup environment with changing priorities • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • A pragmatic, proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership Nice to Have • Experience in digital health, healthtech, or other regulated environments • Experience working in small, early-stage, or high-growth startups • Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure and scalable systems Why Join Us • Join a small, high-impact team at an early stage • Work on meaningful digital health challenges with real-world impact • Help shape the product, the team, and the engineering culture • Be part of a fast-growing company backed by Team8
