Key Responsibilities
• Lead the implementation and enhancement of FinOps practices across the organization
• Design and implement cost allocation strategies, tagging policies, and showback/chargeback mechanisms
• Develop and maintain cloud cost forecasting models and budgets
• Identify cost optimization opportunities through detailed analysis of cloud resource usage
• Create and maintain dashboards and reports to provide visibility into cloud spending
• Collaborate with engineering teams to build cost-aware architectures and implement cost controls
• Partner with finance teams to incorporate cloud costs into financial planning processes
• Drive automation of FinOps processes where possible
• Stay current with evolving cloud pricing models and optimization strategies
• Educate and mentor teams on FinOps principles and cloud cost management
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years focused on cloud financial management/FinOps
• Deep understanding of major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing models
• Experience using FinOps tools
• Strong skills in data analysis and visualization tools
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code
• Experience with cost allocation methodologies and chargeback models
• Solid understanding of financial concepts as they apply to technology investments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical and financial concepts to diverse audiences
• FinOps Foundation certification preferred (FinOps Certified Practitioner)
Technical Skills
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (certification in at least one platform preferred)
• Experience with AI/ML for FinOps (cost optimization, anomaly detection, forecasting)
• Programming/Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell
• Data analysis and visualization tools: PowerBI
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
• Containerization and Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, ECS
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI
• Database Systems: Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
