Tech Lead - Core Platform | Node.js

Ontopo is a leading restaurant-tech company building B2B and B2C products for restaurants and diners.

The company works with a large share of the Israeli restaurant market and serves millions of users through products that support reservations, restaurant operations, customer experience, data, and payments.

Ontopo is a stable, profitable, and growing product company, now replacing legacy products, building new core infrastructure, and continuing to scale its platform and product capabilities.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Tech Lead to take technological ownership of Ontopo’s next-generation core platform.

This is one of the company’s most strategic technology projects. The new platform will bring together data infrastructure, internal operational tools, restaurant-facing products, and customer applications into one central ecosystem.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading technology, owning a product end-to-end, working closely with the CTO, and turning business and product needs into scalable technical solutions.

The position is backend-oriented and requires strong Node.js experience, but the real focus is broader than coding. We are looking for someone who can lead architecture, guide developers, make practical technical decisions, and take responsibility from idea to production.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the architecture and development of Ontopo’s new core platform.

• Translate product and business requirements into clear technical solutions.

• Guide developers across an international team.

• Make key decisions around architecture, infrastructure, databases, performance, and production readiness.

• Take ownership of features from definition through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.

• Work closely with the CTO on one of Ontopo’s most important product and technology initiatives.

• Use AI tools, agents, and automated workflows as part of the development process.

• Review and validate AI-generated code to ensure it meets technical, architectural, and product standards.

Must-Have Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer, or senior engineer with significant technical ownership.

• 5+ years of strong Backend development experience with Node.js.

• Experience with Microservices, Distributed Systems, AWS, and Kubernetes.

• Strong experience with SQL, MongoDB, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Strong product mindset and practical experience using AI-assisted development tools or automated development workflows.

Frontend Environment- The current Frontend stack is mainly Vue.js, with a possible future transition toward React. Deep Frontend specialization is not required, but a solid understanding of web architecture and Backend-Frontend integration is important.

Work Model:

• Full-time position.

• Ontopo’s offices are located in Ramat Gan.

• Primarily office-based, with some flexibility to work from home when needed.
