Part-time student role | Motion planning, state estimation, and robotic algorithms

About the Role:

We are a fast-moving robotics startup looking for a sharp and hands-on Student Algorithm Engineer to join our algorithm team. You will help develop motion planning, trajectory generation, localization, state estimation, and control-related algorithms for real robotic systems operating in dynamic real-world environments.

This is a great opportunity for a student who enjoys solving practical algorithmic problems, working with noisy sensor data, and turning planning and estimation ideas into robust robotic capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and test algorithms for motion planning, trajectory optimization, state estimation, localization, and robotic behavior.

• Work with real-world sensor data to improve robot localization, tracking, prediction, path quality, and motion accuracy.

• Run simulations and real-world experiments, analyze results, debug edge cases, and improve algorithm performance.

• Work in multidisciplinary team

Requirements:

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. student in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

• Strong Python skills; C++ is a strong advantage.

• Solid understanding of algorithms, linear algebra, geometry, and numerical methods.

• Experience in motion planning, state estimation, optimization, localization, or probabilistic methods.

• Independent, curious, practical, and comfortable working with real-world data and imperfect conditions.

• Availability for a part-time student position.

Advantages:

• Experience with NumPy, SciPy, and similar tools.

• Experience with sensors, cameras, IMUs, LiDAR, 3D geometry, or SLAM.

• Knowledge of trajectory generation, sampling-based planning, optimization-based planning, kinematics, dynamics, or control.

• Exposure to reinforcement learning for robotics, planning, control, or decision-making is a plus.

• Previous robotics, autonomous systems, planning, or estimation projects.
