Scale Testing Team Leader

We are seeking a Scale Test Team Leader to lead our newly Scale Testing team, responsible for validating the iBox under maximum real-world scale. combining features, protocols, capacity, and traffic simultaneously to expose issues that only emerge at the limits of the system.

This role sits at the intersection of functional testing, performance testing, and customer-representative system design, ensuring the iBox holds up not just to isolated stress, but to the full complexity of production-scale deployments. The role is expected to be approximately 75% hands-on, directly involved in test design, execution, and investigation alongside the team.

Responsibilities:

• Form and Lead a team of scale test engineers, hiring and guiding them through complex, large-scale test design, execution, and root-cause analysis

• Design and execute tests that combine multiple features, protocols, and workloads concurrently at maximum scale (pools, volumes, snapshots, replication, etc.)

• Build and maintain customer-representative testbeds that mirror real-world production configurations at scale

• Drive high-volume, sustained traffic scenarios alongside feature and capacity scaling to surface interaction effects and edge-case failures

• Investigate and analyze complex, multi-variable system issues that arise only under combined scale conditions

• Participate in technical reviews — requirements, design, test design, and field reports — bringing a scale/system-limits perspective

• Set up and maintain long-running, large-footprint hardware and software test environments

• Collaborate closely with Performance, System Test, Interoperability, R&D, Product Management, and Support to ensure scale considerations are built into product design early

• Define and evolve the team's scale testing methodology, tooling, and metrics

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Team Lead including hiring and building a team.

• 5+ years of experience testing complex systems at scale

• Strong Linux knowledge

• Experience designing and running large-scale, multi-feature test scenarios (not just single-feature or single-metric testing)

• Strong analytical skills — able to isolate root cause across many interacting variables

• Ability to translate customer production patterns into representative test setups

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid understanding of storage architectures (SAN and NAS) and protocols (FC, NFS, S3, SMB, iSCSI)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science
