As we continue to evolve our platform, we're looking for an exceptional Senior Software Architect to help shape the next generation of our cloud architecture, enterprise Data Lake, and AI-powered engineering platform.

How will you make an impact?

• Lead the architecture and evolution of Checkmarx's cloud-native SaaS platform.

• Own the architectural vision and technical roadmap for our enterprise Data Lake.

• Lead the organization's transformation from a traditional Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to an AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC), defining the vision, architecture, and best practices for AI-native software engineering.

• Take an active role in designing, building, and evolving Checkmarx's next-generation agentic development platform, enabling developers to leverage AI agents throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

• Design highly scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available distributed systems.

• Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and development teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

• Produce high-quality architecture documents, technical designs, RFCs, implementation plans, and long-term technology roadmaps.

• Stay hands-on by building proof-of-concepts, validating new technologies, reviewing critical designs, and contributing to production code when needed.

• Drive platform-wide improvements around scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.

• Guide engineering teams through architectural decisions using technical leadership, collaboration, and influence.

• Mentor engineers and technical leaders while promoting engineering best practices across multiple R&D teams.

• Present architectural strategies and technical proposals to audiences ranging from developers to senior leadership and business stakeholders.

Requirements:

What is needed to succeed?

• 10+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed software systems.

• Proven experience as a Software Architect, Principal Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.

• Deep expertise designing and operating cloud-native SaaS platforms at scale.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and modern cloud architecture.

• Strong Kubernetes expertise, including experience with technologies such as KEDA, Karpenter, and modern autoscaling strategies.

• Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, high availability, resilience, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.

• Strong knowledge of modern database technologies, data architecture, and large-scale data platforms.

• Excellent architecture documentation and technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

• Experience collaborating with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and software development teams.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

• A hands-on mindset—you enjoy building, experimenting, validating ideas, and working directly with engineering teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing or building enterprise-scale Data Lake platforms.

• Experience building AI-native systems or integrating Large Language Models into production environments.

• Experience designing or implementing AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) processes.

• Experience building developer AI platforms, coding agents, agentic workflows, or engineering automation systems.

• Experience with technologies such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration frameworks, or AI evaluation platforms.

• Experience developing production software using Go, Java, Node.js, and .NET Core.

• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required. Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure is a plus.

• Experience presenting architectural strategies to technical and executive audiences.
