Senior PostgreSQL DBA / Database Architect

Location: Israel (Hybrid – primarily onsite at customer locations, with partial remote work when appropriate)

Employment Type: Full-time or Freelance / consulting engagement (Part-time)

We are looking for an experienced Senior PostgreSQL DBA / Database Architect to join our team. The role requires a highly technical, hands-on database expert who can work directly with enterprise customers, optimize mission-critical PostgreSQL environments, and lead Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects.

Responsibilities

-  Install, configure, upgrade, and administer PostgreSQL databases.

-  Design and implement High Availability (HA), replication, backup, and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

-  Troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments.

-  Perform deep performance analysis and tuning at both the database infrastructure and application levels.

-  Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, execution plans, and overall database performance.

-  Work closely with customer application and infrastructure teams.

-  Participate in Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects, including architecture review, migration planning, performance comparison, and optimization.

Requirements

-  5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL DBA experience.

-  Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and administration.

-  Strong experience with PostgreSQL replication, HA, DR, backup, and recovery.

-  Proven expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning and troubleshooting.

-  Experience supporting both infrastructure teams and application development teams.

-  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

-  Ability to work independently at customer sites.

Preferred Qualifications

-  Strong Oracle Database administration experience.

-  Experience with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects.

-  Ability to analyze Oracle workloads and optimize PostgreSQL to achieve comparable enterprise performance.

-  Experience with additional enterprise databases such as SQL Server or MySQL is an advantage.
