Our European arm, Arion Retail Group, is headquartered in Amsterdam and built as a multi-brand retail platform for the continent. Our current expansion is anchored in an exclusive strategic partnership with Lululemon - we operate in 8 markets today, with 10 by the end of 2026 and 14 by 2027, scaling through strategic partnerships with global brands and operational partners across Europe.

Today, the leading fashion companies are technology companies. We are replacing our core systems with advanced platforms, building an AI-ready data foundation across the group, and launching F54 AI Labs - an in-house product company building the next generation of AI-powered fashion experiences, with the potential to spin out as an independent technology business.

Beyond what we build internally, we are an active investor and design partner in a portfolio of AI and machine learning startups - building products on top of the unique data and infrastructure they give us early access to.

The Role

We are hiring a VP R&D for the core technology team of the group. Together, you will rebuild the technology backbone of the group for a new era - and build the AI products that come next inside F54 AI Labs.

Ship to real customers from week one and work directly with the CEO and CTO. The team is small by design - outsized ownership, real impact.

What You Will Own

• The day-to-day execution of the engineering team - across modern commerce infrastructure, real-time decision intelligence, and AI products built on a unique customer dataset.

• The technical bar: architecture decisions, code quality, delivery velocity, on-call posture.

• Mandatory AI development and code lifecycle ownership: standards for AI-assisted development, architecture, code review, testing, CI/CD, release management, documentation, observability, incident response, and continuous improvement.

• Roadmap, hiring, and technology strategy alongside the CTO.

• The relationships with our external partners: platform, integration partners, and infrastructure vendors.

• You stay hands-on. We expect you in the code, reviewing PRs, unblocking the team, and writing the hardest pieces yourself.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years building production software, with 5+ years leading engineering teams.

• Proven experience leading engineering organizations of 15+ engineers, including engineering managers, senior technical leaders, hiring, organizational design, and execution across multiple teams.

• Production AI experience - LLM-based features that mattered to revenue, not just prototypes. You've shipped with agents, RAG, and modern AI infrastructure.

• Track record shipping at scale - e-commerce, fintech, ad-tech, marketplaces, or comparable consumer platforms.

• You can ship code, design systems, and lead through both.

• A builder at heart. Whether you're writing the code yourself or directing a fleet of agents that write it for you, you can't help shipping things.
