Mechanical Engineer

A deep-tech quantum computing company is developing a practical photonic quantum computing platform designed to overcome major challenges around scalability, complexity, and cost-efficiency.

The company’s technology combines photonics, electro-optics, quantum systems, and multidisciplinary engineering to support the development of advanced quantum computing systems.

This is an opportunity to join a highly multidisciplinary R&D environment and take part in the end-to-end mechanical and opto-mechanical development of advanced electro-optical modules.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical modules for advanced electro-optical and quantum technology systems.

• Own mechanical development from concept and design through prototyping, assembly, testing, and integration.

• Create detailed mechanical designs, drawings, and documentation using SolidWorks.

• Apply high-precision opto-mechanical engineering principles, including tolerance analysis and practical manufacturing considerations.

• Work closely with optical, physics, hardware, and system engineering teams in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.

• Support hands-on build, assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of mechanical components and modules.

• Work with suppliers and outsourcing partners to support manufacturing, procurement, and technical execution.

Required Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering

• At least 3 years of experience in opto-mechanical design, or 5 years of experience in other mechanical design fields

• Strong expertise with CAD tools, especially SolidWorks

• In-depth knowledge of mechanical design and drawing principles

• Experience designing multidisciplinary systems

• Understanding of high-precision opto-mechanical engineering principles and tolerance analysis

• Hands-on experience building and assembling mechanical components
