Backend & AI Developer

TheMarker is looking for a Junior- Mid Backend & AI Developer to join our technology team and help build and evolve our digital products, services, and AI-powered capabilities.

This is a hands-on development role at the intersection of Backend Engineering, Data, Cloud and Generative AI.

You will develop production Backend services while taking an active role in building and integrating AI-powered solutions, including AI Agents and LLM-based capabilities, into real products, systems and workflows.

We're looking for a developer with a strong Backend foundation, excellent problem-solving skills, technological curiosity and a genuine interest in applying AI to real-world challenges.

What You'll Do • Develop and maintain Backend services and APIs using Java

• Design and build services, APIs, and integrations between systems

• Work with databases and data platforms, with a focus on MongoDB and BigQuery

• Develop and deploy services in GCP

• Build and integrate Generative AI and AI Agent solutions

• Connect LLMs to APIs, databases, tools, and internal data sources

• Identify opportunities to introduce AI and automation into existing products and workflows

• Develop services supporting TheMarker's digital products, content platforms, CMS, newsletters, and internal systems

• Work with Data to support the development of new products, services, and processes

• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and performance

• Apply Secure Development practices throughout the development lifecycle

• Collaborate with Product, Digital, Data, Content, and technology partners

MUST HAVE • 2+ years of hands-on Backend development experience

• Professional Java development experience

• Experience developing and integrating APIs / Web Services

• Experience working with databases

• Good understanding of Backend and Web architectures

• Familiarity with Cloud environments

• Hands-on familiarity or practical experience with Generative AI technologies

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn independently

• Ability to take a task or technical challenge from initial requirement through to a working solution in Production
