Backend Team Lead | iGaming

A leading technology company in the iGaming industry is looking for an experienced Backend Team Lead to join its engineering team and take a key role in the development of an innovative gaming platform.

The Role

The Backend Team Lead will be responsible for the technical delivery of backend systems, combining hands-on development with team leadership and delivery management. The role includes sprint planning, code reviews, mentoring developers, technical decision-making, and close collaboration with Product, Architecture, and other engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend developers

• Own backend technical delivery across multiple systems, integrations, and interfaces

• Participate in hands-on development and code reviews

• Lead sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and Agile delivery

• Work closely with Product and Architecture teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Manage parallel workstreams, identify blockers, and proactively manage technical risks

• Ensure high standards of code quality, scalability, maintainability, and testing

• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and team performance

• Introduce and leverage modern AI development tools and workflows

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional backend development experience

• 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Team Lead or in an engineering management role

• Strong experience with PHP and frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel, or similar

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot is an advantage

• Strong knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL

• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes

• Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID, KISS, and DRY principles

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

• Proven ability to manage multiple systems, integrations, and workstreams simultaneously

• Experience with Claude Code, AI agents, MCP, or other AI-assisted development tools is an advantage

• Excellent written and spoken English
