Board Designer / Hardware Design Engineer (Electronics)

About the Position A hardware and firmware development company is seeking a Board Designer to develop dedicated electronic boards from concept through mass production. The company delivers end-to-end smart-device development, covering hardware and firmware from concept and architecture through validation and mass production across multiple parallel customer projects. The hardware team designs approximately five boards per quarter, making this role suitable for engineers comfortable with a project-based, multi-board environment.

As a Board Designer, responsibilities include ownership of dedicated electrical boards through mass production stages: component research, schematic design, PCB layout, cable and harness design, writing and conducting ATP & ATR tests, implementing ECOs, board bring-up, and the DFM process. Firmware development for communication protocols may be included for candidates with programming skills. Responsibilities • Design schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer (preferred)

• Research and select components for electronic boards

• Design cables and harnesses

• Write and execute ATP & ATR tests

• Perform board bring-up and validation using lab equipment

• Implement ECOs and manage the DFM process towards mass production

• Work with communication protocols and embedded MCU platforms; contribute firmware development where applicable Requirements • Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in schematic and PCB layout design

• Experience with Altium Designer strongly preferred; candidates with experience in OrCAD or other professional PCB CAD tools considered, with company support for transitioning to Altium

• Experience designing cables and harnesses (Altium preferred)

• Practical experience with board bring-up and validation using lab equipment

• High-level proficiency in English

• Primary background in hardware board design; firmware and embedded programming skills are an added advantage but do not replace board design experience Advantages • Embedded firmware/programming skills (C/C++ on microcontrollers)

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or Practical Electronics Engineering certification

• Experience with products for Medical, Defence, or Space sectors that have reached mass production

• Experience developing driver communication protocols such as RS422/RS485 and CAN bus

• Familiarity with MCUs including RP (Raspberry Pi), Microchip, Nordic, STM, ESP32

• Knowledge of sensors, motors, processors, and control systems

• Personal electronics projects or home lab experience

• Background in project-based, multi-client hardware development environments (design houses, consultancies, startups) delivering multiple boards yearly

• Immediate availability is highly preferred Location & Work Model • Full-time employment; experienced freelancers may also be considered

• Work onsite 4 days per week

• Office location relocating from Tel Aviv to the Rishon LeZion / Rehovot / Yavne area; candidates located in Rishon LeZion / Ness Ziona / Rehovot / Yavne preferred

• Candidates from Petah Tikva and Modi'in are acceptable

• Candidates residing north of Tel Aviv are not suitable for this role
