IT Infrastructure & Systems Manager

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure & Systems Manager to lead and oversee the computing environment of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. This role combines infrastructure management, user support, systems administration, team leadership, and technology innovation within a dynamic academic and research environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operation, maintenance, and development of the School's computing infrastructure, including servers, networks, software, and research computing environments.

• Manage computing services supporting faculty members, researchers, students, and teaching laboratories.

• Oversee Windows, Unix/Linux, VMware, database, and HPC environments.

• Define and implement IT policies, security standards, backup procedures, and technology roadmaps.

• Lead and develop the School's technical support team.

• Manage computing budgets, software licensing, and technology procurement processes.

• Support onboarding of new faculty members and research groups.

• Drive technological improvements, automation initiatives, and service optimization projects.

• Ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all computing systems and services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

• Experience supporting and managing enterprise computing environments.

• Hands-on experience with Windows, Unix/Linux, VMware, databases, and computing infrastructure.

• Strong customer-service orientation and experience supporting technical users.

• Advantage: experience managing technical teams.

• Advantage: experience in software development and system programming.

• Advantage: experience managing HPC environments and GPU-based computing infrastructure.
