Data Ops Team Lead | Leading Financial Institution

A leading financial institution is looking for an experienced and technically strong Data Ops Team Lead to join its Data Platform Group.

This is a key leadership role at the heart of the organization’s data ecosystem, combining classic On-Prem Data Operations with the opportunity to lead the organization’s Cloud Transformation to GCP and implement modern DataOps methodologies.

We’re looking for an experienced leader who is comfortable handling complex Production incidents, while also driving automation, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the Data Ops team, including mentoring, work allocation, management routines, and goal setting.

• Own the availability, stability, and performance of the organization’s data systems end-to-end.

• Operate and maintain traditional ETL processes using IBM DataStage and scheduling platforms such as Control-M.

• Manage BI platforms such as SAP BO and Pyramid Analytics, including servers, upgrades, permissions, and performance.

• Handle operational DBA responsibilities and database maintenance.

• Own Production incidents end-to-end, including RCA, lessons learned, and preventive actions.

• Build and maintain CI/CD processes for data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment scenarios.

• Establish and improve proactive Monitoring & Alerting capabilities to identify issues before they impact the business.

• Drive automation and reduce manual operational work through scripting and modern tools.

• Take ownership of Data environments running on GCP (Google Cloud Platform).

• Design and implement cloud operational processes while maintaining FinOps and Information Security principles.

• Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, AI Engineering, Full-Stack, and GCP teams to bring solutions into Production.

• Support Data Governance and Information Security processes, including access management, controls, and configuration management.

• Work with vendors, software providers, and cross-organizational technology teams.

Requirements • 3+ years of experience managing Data Operations / Data teams.

• Strong operational experience with data systems, including ETL, DWH, BI, scheduling, and monitoring.

• Proven experience with Enterprise ETL tools such as DataStage or Informatica, and scheduling platforms such as Control-M or equivalent – mandatory.

• Experience administering BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, SAP BO, or Pyramid.

• Experience working with Linux / Windows operating systems and infrastructure.

• Experience with Cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, with a strong understanding of managed services – a significant advantage.

• Experience with modern monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog – an advantage.

• Familiarity with Big Data technologies, such as Spark and Kafka – an advantage.

• Infrastructure or Application DBA background – an advantage.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.

• Team player with a proactive, hands-on approach and a systems-oriented mindset.
