About the Role
The Space Division is seeking an Electro-Optical Camera Development Engineer to contribute to the development of the next generation of advanced electro-optical satellites.
This role focuses on the design, development, calibration, and performance optimization of electro-optical cameras operating across multiple wavelength ranges. You will work on cutting-edge space technologies, supporting the full lifecycle of imaging systems—from camera definition and calibration to advanced image processing algorithms and in-orbit validation.
Key Responsibilities
• Define system requirements and oversee the development of electro-optical cameras operating across multiple spectral bands.
• Perform electro-optical performance analysis, including MTF (Modulation Transfer Function), SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio), and other imaging performance metrics.
• Plan, supervise, and execute camera calibration activities, both during ground testing prior to launch and throughout in-orbit operations.
• Develop and support advanced image processing algorithms, from raw detector data through the generation of high-level image products.
• Develop algorithms for color reconstruction, spectral information extraction, image enhancement, and advanced image exploitation.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and customers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, calibration reports, and engineering documentation.
Requirements
• M.Sc. or higher in Electro-Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related field – required.
• At least 3 years of experience developing electro-optical cameras, image processing algorithms, and remote sensing applications – required.
• Experience with calibration processes, including PSF, NUC, ground calibration measurements, and related methodologies – required.
• Experience in radiometry, thermal imaging, detector technologies, or related electro-optical fields – required.
• Experience processing images from multiple spectral bands – advantage.
• Experience with MODTRAN, Zemax, OCTKAL, or LabVIEW – advantage.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Experience writing technical documentation, test procedures, and engineering reports.
Why Join Us?
The Space Image Processing Team serves as the center of excellence for image processing, electro-optics, and precision geolocation technologies within the Space Division. The team is responsible for developing the next generation of Israel's electro-optical observation satellites.
Engineers in this group lead every stage of the imaging pipeline—from camera definition and algorithm development through implementation, testing, ground calibration, and in-orbit validation. The team also develops advanced ground-station algorithms and works with state-of-the-art technologies, including spectral image processing, radiometric calibration, AI and Machine Learning, sensor fusion, and super-resolution.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of space technology and contribute to some of the world's most advanced electro-optical imaging systems.
