Electro-Optics Team Leader

A leading technology company developing advanced, high-performance products is looking for an experienced Electro-Optics Team Leader to join its multidisciplinary R&D organization.

The company operates in a highly innovative and engineering-driven environment, where advanced electro-optical technologies play a critical role in the development of sophisticated systems. The role offers an opportunity to take significant technical ownership while leading a talented engineering team and working closely with internal R&D groups, technology partners, and international suppliers.

We are looking for a strong technical leader who can combine deep expertise in optics and electro-optics with hands-on engineering, team leadership, and the ability to drive complex development activities from concept through integration and verification.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the professional and managerial activities of an Electro-Optics engineering team.

• Define technical requirements and specifications for critical electro-optical components and subsystems.

• Drive component selection, characterization, evaluation, and integration based on performance, reliability, and cost requirements.

• Provide technical leadership throughout the optical design lifecycle - from requirements definition and architecture through verification and validation.

• Lead the investigation and evaluation of new electro-optical technologies for current and future products.

• Solve complex engineering challenges in optics and electro-optics.

• Establish and manage technical interfaces with local and international suppliers and development partners.

• Lead supplier evaluations, technology assessments, technical reviews, and co-development activities.

• Define test methodologies and procedures for electro-optical components and subsystems.

• Plan, conduct, and analyze characterization tests and engineering experiments.

• Define laboratory, measurement, and test infrastructure requirements.

• Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Systems Engineering teams to ensure successful system integration.

• Mentor and develop team members, assign priorities, and drive execution.

• Report progress, technical risks, and key milestones to the development management.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electro-Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in the development of electro-optical components or systems.

• Strong expertise in one or more of the following areas: lasers, detectors, displays, thermal imaging, day/night optics, or related electro-optical technologies.

• Proven experience working with optical design and verification processes.

• 2+ years of experience working with external optical design partners or subcontractors.

• Previous experience leading or managing an engineering team – a significant advantage.

• Experience working with international suppliers and technology partners.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to operate effectively in a multidisciplinary, dynamic environment and under demanding timelines.

• High-level English.

• Willingness to travel internationally.
