Electronics Development Team Lead

We are looking for an Electronics Development Team Lead to take ownership of our electronic boards group, replacing our outgoing lead. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will guide board design from concept through production release, mentor and manage a small team of 2–3 electronics engineers, and act as the primary technical authority for all PCB/electronics development within the company. Key Responsibilities • Technical leadership: Own the architecture, schematic design, and PCB layout strategy for company products (analog, digital, mixed-signal, power electronics as relevant). • Design review & quality: Lead design reviews (schematic, layout, DFM/DFT, EMC/EMI considerations) and ensure designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory requirements. • Root cause & troubleshooting: Lead failure analysis and debugging efforts for board-level issues (lab, verification, or field-reported). • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with firmware, mechanical, systems, and regulatory/quality teams to ensure a cohesive product development process. • Team management: Directly manage, mentor, and grow a team of 2–3 electronics engineers — set priorities, review designs, conduct 1:1s and performance reviews, and support career development. • Project delivery: Plan and drive electronics development schedules, working closely with mechanical, firmware, systems, and quality/regulatory teams to hit program milestones. • Documentation & compliance: Ensure proper design history file (DHF) documentation, risk management, and traceability in line with medical device design controls. • Vendor & prototyping management: Manage relationships with PCB fabrication/assembly vendors, component suppliers, and contract manufacturers; oversee prototyping, debugging, and bring-up of new boards. • Process improvement: Establish or improve design standards, checklists, and best practices for the electronics team.

Requirements: • B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field. • 7+ years of hands-on experience in electronic board design (schematic capture + PCB layout), including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits. • 2+ years of experience leading or managing a team of 2–3 (or more) electronics/hardware engineers • Proven track record of taking boards from concept through to production (NPI experience). • Strong knowledge of high-speed and/or low-noise design practices, power supply design, and signal integrity. • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers) for board bring-up and debugging. • Experience working with EDA tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence, OrCAD). • Excellent communication skills in English — able to communicate with engineers, management, and external vendors. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in a medical device company, with familiarity with ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC), and FDA design control requirements. • Familiarity with wireless/connectivity design (BLE, Wi-Fi, etc.) if relevant to the product line. • Experience working in a regulated, audited environment (design history files, verification & validation, CAPA processes) and experience with external lab testing methodologies. • Experience with RF circuit/system design (RF power amplifiers, or antenna-driving electronics). • Experience with ultrasound system electronics (transducer driving circuits, pulser/receiver design, beamforming electronics, or high-voltage pulse generation). • Experience with laser systems electronics (laser diode driver design, high-current pulsed drivers, optical feedback/control circuits, or laser safety interlock electronics).
