About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and influential Backend Chapter Lead to drive the professional excellence, architecture standards, and engineering practices of Backend development across the tribe.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced backend engineer and technology leader who combines deep hands-on development expertise with strong leadership capabilities. The Backend Chapter Lead will serve as the professional authority for Backend engineering, shaping architecture decisions, establishing development standards, mentoring engineers, and leading cross-tribe technological initiatives.

You will work closely with engineering managers, architects, product teams, and developers to ensure scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable backend systems while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

What you will do:

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Architect on strategic architecture decisions.

• Drive the professional leadership of Backend engineering across the tribe.

• Define, promote, and enforce Backend development standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.

• Design and review scalable Backend services based on modern Microservices architecture.

• Ensure engineering excellence throughout the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

• Establish and lead forums for knowledge sharing, technical alignment, and cross-team collaboration.

• Drive adoption of modern development practices, cloud-native architectures, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and platform improvements.

• Provide technical leadership during complex production incidents and critical system initiatives.

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building large-scale production systems.

• Proven experience leading Backend engineering practices across multiple teams or organizational units.

• Deep expertise in Java and modern backend development.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Spring Framework

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, and fault tolerance

• Strong experience working in AWS cloud environments.

• Experience building, optimizing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong understanding of AI-driven software development practices.

• Experience with observability, performance profiling and production incident analysis.

• Excellent mentoring and coaching capabilities.

• Self-driven learner with a genuine curiosity for emerging technologies and industry trends.

• Exceptional leadership and influencing skills across multiple teams and stakeholders.

• Experience in fintech, banking, payments or other regulated environments.

• Experience integrating AI capabilities into products.
