Phillips Academy seeks a full-time Facilities Operating Engineer to operate high pressure steam fire tube boilers, steam turbine, and auxiliary equipment with minimum supervision. The successful candidate will possess a Third Class Engineers license or higher issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety. Experience operating high-pressure boilers, steam turbines, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, auxiliary machinery, and building management systems are required.

While the power plant is in operation (Late September-Early June) this is a 12-hour shift from 7PM to 7AM with every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday off. When the power plant shuts down for maintenance, the shift is four 10-hour days, weekends off, and “on-call” status and overtime as required. When emergencies and/or extreme weather conditions occur, the functions of this job may be deemed essential and employee must report to work and/or remain on duty during their regularly scheduled work hours or the work hours designated by their supervisor. Supervisor will inform the employee when the functions are essential.
