Guidance and Navigation Engineer

Drone-Lander is a privately owned startup, active since 2022, developing essential components for the future drone market. The company combines smart materials, mechanics, electromechanics, and software to create innovative guidance and landing technologies. Having recently completed its first financing round, Drone-Lander is entering a growth phase and accelerating development activities. The current focus is on completing the first-generation product and preparing for wider market adoption, offering team members the opportunity to shape core technologies and influence product direction.

Responsibilities

• Develop GNC algorithms for robotic systems and autonomous drones, including guidance, navigation, motion control,and stability control.

• Build simulations, run scenarios, and analyze performance.

• Fuse data from sensors such as IMU, cameras, LiDAR, radar, GNSS, and flight-controller data.

• Plan trajectories.

• Implement algorithms in Embedded Linux / Edge Computing environments and integrate them into a robotic software system.

• Investigate logs, analyze field tests, tune parameters, and improve system performance to achieve a stable product.

• Work closely with software, mechanical, electronics, integration, and testing teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aeronautics, robotics, or anotherrelevant engineering field.

• At least 5 years of experience developing GNC algorithms for autonomous systems, preferably airborne or roboticsystems.

• In-depth knowledge of classical and modern control, including PID, LQR, MPC, stability analysis, and controller tuning.

• Experience in sensor fusion, including Kalman filters, EKF, and UKF.

• Experience building simulations, analyzing scenarios, and validating algorithms against real-world data.

• Strong ability to analyze logs, identify root causes, and solve system-level problems in real time.

• High proficiency in English: reading, writing, and speaking.

Advantages

• Experience with flight controllers and open-source systems such as PX4, ArduPilot, or ArduCopter.

• Good command of Python and C++ for development, simulation, and data analysis.

• Experience with Linux, embedded systems, and edge computing.

• Experience developing in ROS / ROS 2.

• Professional or hobbyist drone development experience: building, flying, tuning, debugging, and improving performance.

• Familiarity with computer vision, AI, or signal processing for navigation, target detection, or precision landing.

• Experience taking algorithms from research or prototype to a stable, documented, and maintainable product implementation.
