Head of Engineering

The Opportunity

This is a defining leadership opportunity to architect and own YGG's technology future - at the intersection of global scale, complex real-world systems, and cutting-edge AI. As Head of Engineering, you will lead engineers across multiple regions and set the technical direction for one of travel's most ambitious global B2B platforms.

We build a global B2B travel distribution platform that connects hotels, travel agencies, and tour operators across 20,000+ partners worldwide. Our platform handles real-time inventory, complex booking flows, and high-volume data synchronization at scale - and we are now taking it to the next level with AI-native architecture and global platform consolidation.

What You Will Do

Technology Vision & Architecture

• Define and own the long-term technology roadmap, driving the company's transition to an AI-native, cloud-first global platform.

• Design and evolve high-traffic distributed system architectures that handle real-time inventory, high-volume booking flows, and global data synchronization at scale.

• Set architectural standards for scalable backend systems with an AI-first mindset — including LLM-based services, RAG pipelines, and autonomous agents that solve real-world travel distribution logic.

• Make decisive, high-stakes architectural decisions across the full platform stack, balancing speed, stability, and long-term scalability.

• Act as the ultimate technical authority for YGG, representing technology at the executive level and with key global partners.

Engineering Organization Leadership

• Lead, grow, and inspire distributed engineering organizations across Israel, Europe, and India.

• Build the engineering culture, org structure, career frameworks, and hiring strategy to attract and retain world-class talent globally.

• Directly manage senior engineering leaders - Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, and Heads of Product — developing them as the next generation of leadership.

• Drive performance management, team health, and organizational alignment during a period of ambitious growth and transformation.

Platform Modernization & M&A Integration

• Lead the migration of legacy systems to cloud-native architectures (microservices, event-driven), focusing on injecting AI capabilities into existing workflows.

• Own the technical strategy for M&A activities, including due diligence, re-architecting acquired systems, and unifying them with YGG's core AI-driven platform.

• Define Integration strategies that balance short-term consolidation needs with long-term platform coherence across heterogeneous technology stacks.

• Ensure platform reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency at global scale across AWS infrastructure.

Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration

• Partner with the CEO, CPO, and business leaders to translate commercial ambitions into technology strategy and delivery.

• Foster seamless collaboration across geographically distributed R&D teams, driving alignment on shared standards, APIs, and engineering principles.

• Communicate complex technology decisions clearly to non-technical executives, board members, and external stakeholders.

What is Required

Leadership & Management

• 12+ years of professional engineering experience.

• Proven track record of building and leading engineering organizations of 30–100+ people across multiple geographies and time zones.

• Deep people management experience: building multi-level leadership hierarchies, coaching senior engineers and managers, and driving org-wide culture change.

• A decisive, high-ownership leadership style - someone who has been the most senior technology leader in a company and operated with full organizational accountability.

Technical Depth

• Deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems, backend platform engineering with proven experience across multiple cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) – the ability to evaluate and operate in multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic environments is essential.

• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs, vector databases, and AI-driven automation into production environments.

• Strong experience with system integration and platform consolidation in M&A or post-merger contexts, where you significantly modernized the tech stack.

• Architectural judgment to evaluate trade-offs across speed, stability, cost, and long-term scalability - we need a builder, not a caretaker.

• You have built or led an engineering organization through a major transformation - M&A, AI adoption, platform modernization, or rapid global scaling.

• You bring a founder-like mindset: you define the backlog; you don't wait for one.

• You have directly managed senior technical leaders and helped them grow, not just managed individual contributors.

• Your work has had measurable global impact across multiple teams and geographies.

• You are as comfortable in a boardroom presenting technology strategy as you are in a design review with senior engineers.
