Head of Space Electronics Design Department

About the Role

The Engineering & Systems Division within the Missiles & Space Group is seeking a Head of the Space Electronics Design Department to lead the development of advanced electronic hardware for next-generation space systems.

In this leadership role, you will manage a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of space-qualified electronic systems. You will oversee the entire development lifecycle, from requirements definition through system integration, while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Space Electronics Design Department, with overall responsibility for the development of space electronics systems.

• Directly manage a team of 12 engineers, including task assignment, workload planning, mentoring, and professional development.

• Lead the design and development of electronic boards, from requirements definition and technical specifications through preliminary and detailed design and electronic circuit development.

• Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Thermal, and Reliability Engineering teams to ensure successful multidisciplinary system integration.

• Define, manage, and execute system integration and verification activities, analyze test results, and implement engineering improvements.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Engineering or a related engineering discipline – required.

• At least 5 years of experience in the design and development of digital and analog electronic boards – required.

• Previous experience leading or managing a hardware development team – advantage.

• Strong familiarity with processors, programmable devices, memory components, and hardware interfaces – significant advantage.

• Experience with hardware/software system integration – significant advantage.

• Familiarity with communication protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, SpaceWire, SPI, and UART – advantage.
