Mechanical Design Team Leader (Opto-Mechanical Systems)

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Team Leader to lead the development of advanced, high-precision mechanical systems in the optical and opto-mechanical domain.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex engineering challenges, lead a talented team of mechanical engineers, and drive innovative products from early concept stages through detailed design, manufacturing, and integration.

As part of a multidisciplinary R&D environment, you will work closely with optical, mechanical, thermal, and structural engineering teams, while collaborating with leading manufacturing partners to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

What you will do

Lead & develop a talented engineering team

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 5+ mechanical engineers across multiple sites.

• Own engineering execution: planning, prioritization, task allocation, and delivery.

• Create a collaborative environment that encourages technical excellence and innovation.

Drive mechanical design excellence

• Lead the design of complex, high-precision mechanical systems for optical applications.

• Own the full mechanical design lifecycle – from concept definition and design reviews to manufacturing drawings and production support.

• Review and approve detailed drawings according to GD&T standards.

• Solve challenging mechanical stability, precision, and integration challenges.

Collaborate across disciplines

• Work closely with optical designers, mechanical engineers, and structural/thermal analysis teams.

• Support system-level design decisions in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Work with manufacturing partners

• Lead technical communication with suppliers and subcontractors.

• Support procurement activities and manufacturing processes.

What we are looking for

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from a leading university.

• 10+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience.

• Proven experience leading a mechanical engineering team (5+ engineers).

• Strong experience in opto-mechanical / precision mechanical systems.

• Expert knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing drawings.

• Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks and PDM.

• Experience with structural and thermal analysis tools.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Advantages:

• M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
