Postdoc fellow in postharvest science / big data - multiomics analysis

Role Description The Postdoc fellow in postharvest science / big data - multiomics analysis will conduct independent and collaborative research on postharvest physiology, quality, and shelf-life, integrating multiomics datasets such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Day-to-day activities include designing and performing laboratory and postharvest experiments, collecting and processing biological and physicochemical data, and applying advanced data analysis and modeling approaches to interpret complex datasets. The fellow will prepare manuscripts, present findings at internal seminars and external conferences, contribute to grant proposals, and support mentoring of students and research assistants. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Rishon LeZion, requiring active participation in the institute’s scientific community and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Strong laboratory skills and experience in postharvest science, plant physiology, or related experimental work.

• Proven research experience, including designing studies, managing projects, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

• Proficiency in data analysis, including statistical methods, big data handling, and multiomics integration (e.g., R, Python, or similar tools).

• Teaching or mentoring experience, with the ability to guide students and collaborate effectively in a research team.

• PhD in postharvest science, plant science, food science, biology, bioinformatics, or a closely related field (or PhD completion expected shortly).

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Hebrew proficiency is an advantage but not mandatory.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.

• Experience with multiomics platforms, computational biology, or machine learning applied to biological data is highly beneficial.
