About Ecoplant

Ecoplant builds the software layer that makes industrial compressed air systems smart. Our platform connects to the machines on a plant floor, continuously reads what's actually happening across the system, and optimizes it in real time — cutting energy waste, preventing downtime, and giving plant and energy teams a live picture of an asset that used to be a black box. Compressed air is one of the largest and least-visible energy consumers in industry, and we're the ones making it measurable and controllable.

We started as a startup and still work like one: small teams, short cycles, decisions made by the people doing the work. Since joining Ingersoll Rand, we do it with the reach of a global industrial leader behind us — thousands of real industrial sites, real machines, and real energy data. It's a rare combination: startup speed, industrial scale, and a product whose impact you can measure in megawatt-hours.

About the role

We're looking for a Product Designer who is also a builder, someone who designs complex industrial software and uses AI as a native part of how they work: code-based prototyping, building agents and automations, and shipping thinking as working artifacts rather than static screens.

You'll own end-to-end experiences across the Ecoplant platform: monitoring and diagnostics, system schematics, optimization and control, reporting and sustainability. These are data-heavy, expert-user products where a good decision relies on the right number being in the right place at the right moment. Simplifying that is the job.

You'll be part of a small design team working inside a mature design system, with direct access to product, engineering, and the industrial experts who know these systems inside out. You'll also help shape how our design practice works with AI — the workflows, the agents, the reusable assets, not just use the tools that already exist.

What you'll do

• Own product design end-to-end. From problem framing and user research through flows, states, high-fidelity UI, developer handoff, and design QA on what actually shipped.

• Turn complex industrial systems into clear, efficient journeys: make the expert faster without making the newcomer lost.

• Design for AI in the product. How users delegate to it, understand what it did, and trust it. Confidence, uncertainty, explainability, and recovery are design problems here, not engineering afterthoughts.

• Prototype in code and with AI tools. Test an interaction as a working thing early, instead of debating a static mock.

• Work within and extend our design system (components, tokens, patterns, documentation) so the product stays one coherent language as it grows.

• Build the team's AI leverage: agents, orchestrations, and automated assets that speed up research synthesis, spec writing, design-system upkeep, QA, and handoff for everyone, not just for you.

• Partner closely with product and engineering from the first conversation, and stay involved until quality ships.

What you'll bring

• 4+ years designing digital products, preferably B2B SaaS with real depth. Dashboards, data-heavy interfaces, monitoring or control systems, configuration, permissions, operational workflows.

• AI fluency as a working practice, not a curiosity. You use AI daily across your workflow, and you can show what you built with it: agents, orchestrations, automated assets, custom instructions, working prototypes. Come ready to walk us through the how.

• Hands-on prototyping ability with AI code tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Figma Make). You don’t need to be an engineer; you do need to be able to make an idea real.

• Strong UX and UI craft. Systems thinking and product judgment, plus the visual precision that separates a functional screen from an excellent one.

• Advanced Figma. Components, variants, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and design system work as a natural part of how you build.

• Ownership. You define the problem before jumping to the solution, drive your area with minimal oversight, and argue your trade-offs clearly.

• A portfolio showing the challenge, the decisions, the trade-offs, and the shipped outcome.

• Working English, spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Experience from a product company that genuinely adopted AI into daily workflows, where AI is how the team works.

• Experience designing AI-native or agentic features: assistants, copilots, automated recommendations, human-in-the-loop flows.

• Background in industrial, IoT, energy, manufacturing, or another domain with real physical constraints.

• Experience with data visualization, diagrams and schematics, alerting, or time-series interfaces.

• Contribution to building or scaling a design system, including documentation and governance.

• Familiarity with front-end fundamentals and design-to-code workflows.

Who this role is for

Someone who wants ownership over a product that matters and the freedom to change how design gets done. If your instinct when you hit a repetitive design problem is to build something that solves it permanently — for you and for the team — you'll fit here.

The process

An intro conversation, a portfolio review, and a practical assignment you'll present to the team. The assignment is a real design problem from our world, and you're expected to use AI the way you actually work — we're interested in how you got there, not only what you produced.
