Qarakal Quantum is a full-stack quantum computing company developing state-of-the-art systems based on superconducting qubits. We build quantum processing units (QPUs), design innovative circuits, and are focused on advancing algorithms to solve complex computational tasks beyond the limits of classical computing. Join us as we push the boundaries of quantum technology and contribute to shaping the future of quantum computing.
Job description
We are looking for a skilled quantum integration engineer to join the measurement team, upon whose operation the entire company relies on. You will integrate the quantum computer’s many components, from the installation of the quantum chip in its box, to mounting and operation of the dilution refrigerator, and to operation of the control infrastructure and electronics. You will also monitor systems, pumps, and gauges, troubleshoot, and maintain the Measurement Facility, schedule service and repairs, characterize inconsistencies, and develop packaging infrastructure for our superconducting devices. In short, your job thus lies at the intersection between quantum and classical: You allow the algorithm engineers to execute quantum circuits, placing Qarakal, and Israel, at the forefront of superconducting quantum computing.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Operate Israel’s leading quantum computing measurement facility, including scheduling, cooldowns, warmups, routine servicing, and troubleshooting.
• Manage electrical, vacuum, cooling, and control infrastructure
• Maintenance, repairs, service providers, and procurement
• Develop packaging solutions
• Develop novel monitoring systems
Qualifications
Need to have:
• MSc in physics, EE, or related field
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in an experimental lab (cryogenic, vacuum, RF/microwave, and electronic systems)
• Organizational skills: management of maintenance schedules, laboratory inventory, technical documentation
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering
• Ability to work independently and support multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Strong hands-on technical skills
Nice to have:
• Understanding of quantum computing, superconductivity, or (preferably) both
• Hands-on experience with dilution refrigerators, wire bonding, RF packaging, and quantum control systems
• Living near Givat Ram (Jerusalem) or within convenient commuting distance
• Familiarity with laboratory safety and cleanroom work
• Availability for occasional after-hours support during cooldowns or equipment failures
• Experience with PCB and/or mechanical design
General
Our offices are in Tel Aviv, and our newly renovated lab facility is located at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Givat Ram). For the foreseeable future you will work daily in Jerusalem (on-site), with occasional visits to Tel Aviv.
