๐ง Want your code to help stroke survivors move again?
A research commercialization project at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is developing a novel technology that detects movement intention from muscle electrical activity (surface EMG), aimed at transforming neuro-motor rehabilitation for stroke patients. The technology is moving from proven research results toward a real-world clinical system, backed by a competitive applied-research grant from the IIA โ and we're looking for an experienced, hands-on engineer to own this transition.
What you'll do:
* Turn validated research algorithms into a robust real-time system that runs reliably in a clinical setting
* Automate the manual processes
* Integrate software with commercial HD-sEMG acquisition hardware
* Support experimental sessions with stroke patients in the lab, and iterate based on what you see in the field
* Be the engineering and product backbone of an early-stage effort: your decisions directly shape the product
What we're looking for:
* B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical/Biomedical or a related field, with 3+ years of hands-on experience
* Strong background in physiological signal processing (EMG/EEG/ECG or similar): filtering, artifact handling, feature extraction on noisy real-world data
* Practical machine-learning skills suited to small clinical datasets โ rigorous validation, classical ML done right, not just large-scale deep learning
* Proven track record of taking research code or a prototype and shipping it as a reliable working system that others use
* Strong Python; comfort working with hardware SDKs and real-time data streams
* A usability mindset โ you build things that survive contact with busy clinicians, not just things that work on your machine
* Independent and versatile: you'll be the sole engineer, moving between algorithms, integration, and lab work
Details
80% position with flexible arrangements
Hybrid: remote work combined with lab days at Ben-Gurion University, Beer Sheva and Adi Negev Hospital (Ofakim)
A rare chance to join a technology at the ground floor โ startup-style ownership with strong research foundations, and real impact on patients' lives
