המשרה המקורית · נשמר לעיוןKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
--------------------
- Lead the architecture of an advanced electro-optical subsystem for
space: optical layout, precision-pointing concept, and the
SWaP/performance trade space.
- Drive precision pointing, acquisition, and tracking design -
acquisition strategy, coarse/fine pointing architecture, control-loop
design, and the associated sensor/actuator selection.
- Define the optical and laser front-end: telescope/aperture, transmit
and receive optical paths, and stray-light/isolation control.
- Specify the optical sensor chain and the beam-steering optomechanics
(fast-steering element plus coarse mechanism).
- Derive and flow down requirements across the power, high-speed-digital,
and software work; own the interfaces and the overall optical and
pointing budgets.
- Drive analysis and verification: optical, thermal,
structural/optomechanical, jitter/stability, and closed-loop pointing
performance, including in-orbit calibration approach.
- Guide the design through space qualification (vibration,
thermal-vacuum, radiation, EEE-parts derating) toward flight readiness.
- Support build-vs-buy decisions and manage key optical, laser, and
precision-component vendors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVE)
-----------------------------------
- B.Sc./M.Sc. (Ph.D. an asset) in Electro-Optics, Physics,
Optical/Photonic Engineering, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering with
a strong optics emphasis.
- 7+ years designing precision electro-optical, laser, or optical-sensing
systems (space, defense EO/seekers, laser-based pointing systems, or
lidar all qualify).
- Demonstrated ownership of at least one - ideally both - of:
* Optical/laser system design - telescopes, laser/fiber-amplifier
sources, detectors, optical benches; and/or
* Precision pointing/tracking control - closed-loop line-of-sight
stabilization or acquisition-and-tracking with genuine µrad-class
performance.
- Fluency in optical and pointing/error budgets.
- Systems-engineering breadth to work across power, high-speed digital,
and software - able to drive and coordinate those disciplines
technically even where they aren't the candidate's own specialty.
- Experience with space or high-reliability environments (vibration,
thermal-vacuum, radiation, derating), or clearly transferable hi-rel
background.
STRONGLY PREFERRED
------------------
- Hands-on experience with precision pointing/tracking for EO payloads,
seekers, or gyro-stabilized line-of-sight systems.
- Familiarity with fiber photonics / laser sources and optical
amplifiers.
- Optomechanical design sense: athermalization, alignment,
jitter/microvibration control.
- Experience taking a design through a formal space-qualification /
flight program.
NICE TO HAVE
------------
- GNC/astrodynamics background relevant to open-loop pointing and
look-angle prediction.
- FPGA-adjacent or DSP awareness for sensor/data interfaces.
- Prior vendor management with optical/laser suppliers.
