Mobile Core Development Team Lead

About the Company: We are partnering with an innovative, high-growth startup at the intersection of cellular core software and satellite communications. Location: Tel Aviv - Hybrid (4 times a week from the office,1 from home)

·      Hands-on experience developing Mobile Core network components for 4G and 5G networks (e.g., MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, HSS, UPF) – MUST

·      Strong software development experience in Java and C – MUST

·      5+ years of experience – MUST

·      Tech lead or team lead – MUST

·      AI Assistant Engineering - MUST

What will you Do?

•  Lead and grow a team of talented engineers developing the brain of Our mobile core - the components at the heart of our 4G, 5G (and sometimes 3G) networks, including MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, HSS, and UPF - written in Java, C, and Node.js. Reporting to VP R&D.

•  Plan and manage the team on a day-to-day basis following agile methodologies: setting direction and priorities, monitoring progress, and providing feedback and professional coaching to team members.

•  Own the delivery and quality of the team’s core components end to end - from design and development through testing and production, with occasional involvement in customer POCs. Your code will run on real, live networks around the world.

•  Stay hands-on (~50% of your time) - design, code, and deliver development tasks alongside your team.

•  Collaborate on product architecture and design, contributing to research and the adoption of new technologies.

•  Champion AI-assisted development across the team: set best practices for working with AI - design-first development, careful code reviews, and strong automated testing - and continuously improve AI-driven workflows that raise code quality and speed up delivery.

Key Requirements

•  5+ years of experience in mobile core development and the telecom world, including experience leading a team of developers and/or acting as a tech lead in this domain.

•  In-depth understanding of mobile core components (3G/4G/5G), with a good understanding of 3GPP protocols (GTP, Diameter, PFCP, S1AP/NGAP, NAS) and system architecture.

•  Proficiency in at least one of our core languages - Java or C.

•  Proficiency in designing and architecting complex distributed systems.

•  Strong self-learning ability with a proven track record of independently researching and implementing solutions.

•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Advantages

•  Knowledge and/or experience with mobile supplementary services - VoLTE, VoNR, cell broadcast, lawful interception, etc.

•  Experience working and developing with the following stacks: Kafka, MongoDB, Couchbase, ELK.

•  Familiarity and/or experience working with cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
