Software Engineering Team Lead

We are looking for a strong, hands-on Software Engineering Team Lead to take a key role in leading the development of a growing product company undergoing a significant technological transformation.

This is much more than a traditional Team Lead role.

You will have broad ownership over the development function, lead developers in Israel and offshore, influence architecture and technical decisions, drive delivery, and work closely with the company’s leadership on the technology roadmap, AI adoption and future products.

The company develops complex web and data-driven systems used by municipalities, local authorities and infrastructure organizations, and is currently investing heavily in modernization, new products and smarter use of data and AI.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and professionally mentor a development team in Israel and offshore

• Own planning, estimation, prioritization and delivery from requirements to production

• Lead architecture and key technical decisions across complex web systems

• Stay close to the code through Code Reviews, technical mentoring and hands-on involvement when needed

• Improve development processes, engineering quality and delivery predictability

• Work closely with management to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions

• Collaborate with IT, security and infrastructure partners on cloud and production environments

• Help shape the technology roadmap and future product direction

• Drive practical adoption of AI across development processes and product capabilities

What we’re looking for:

• Strong hands-on background in software development - must

• Proven experience leading developers, either formally as a Team Lead/Manager or through significant technical leadership

• Experience working with offshore development teams - must

• Strong understanding of software architecture and end-to-end system design

• Experience with complex web applications and production environments

• Good understanding of cloud environments and modern development infrastructure

• Ability to review code, challenge technical decisions and support developers hands-on

• Strong ownership of delivery, timelines and estimation

• Business-oriented mindset with strong communication skills

• High-level English

Relevant technologies:

Experience with some of the following is highly relevant:

• React / TypeScript

• Node.js / Python

• SQL / PostGIS

• Docker

• CI/CD

• Cloud environments

• Complex data-intensive systems

Experience with GIS technologies such as GeoServer, OpenLayers, ESRI or ArcGIS is a strong advantage, but is not mandatory.
