Teaching & Research Laboratory Engineer – Life Sciences

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is seeking a Teaching & Research Laboratory Engineer to join the Department of Life Sciences in a temporary, part-time position.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare teaching and research laboratories for students in the Life Sciences.

• Assist with research activities and conduct experiments in plant sciences.

• Perform sterile work with plant tissue cultures and genome size analysis using FACS.

• Provide laboratory assistance and guidance to undergraduate and graduate students.

• Grow and maintain organisms used for research.

• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in teaching and research laboratories.

• Handle procurement and purchasing processes for laboratory needs.

• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and applicable regulations.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Life Sciences; M.Sc. preferred.

• At least 4 years of relevant professional experience.

• Experience working with molecular biology and biochemistry protocols.

• Hands-on experience conducting plant experiments in growth rooms and greenhouses.

• Experience organizing, operating, and maintaining teaching and research laboratories.

• Experience in plant science experiments – an advantage.

• Experience with plant tissue cultures or other tissue cultures – an advantage.

• Previous teaching or instructional experience – an advantage.

Position Details

• 50% position

• Temporary replacement position through October 2027

• Occasional work outside standard working hours may be required.

• Reports to the Teaching & Research Laboratories Coordinator.
