Tech Lead – Hardware & Firmware (System Engineering, 50% Hands-On)

About the Role:

A small, highly skilled hardware and firmware development company with dedicated hardware and embedded-software teams is hiring a Tech Lead. You are the technical owner of a project: you specify and architect the system across hardware and firmware, lead 3-5 engineers per project, write the sprints, run the design and code reviews, own the hardware DFM, and personally take on the hardest problems. A project manager beside you owns the customer relationship and the schedule; you lead the technical discussions with the customer.

What you bring

• 5+ years of combined firmware and hardware expertise (the ideal profile is around 15 years; strong candidates with fewer years are considered)

• Both disciplines at system level: you can specify a full system and challenge the hardware and firmware engineers under you. A hardware background is preferred

• 3+ years leading development teams

• 3+ years of customer-facing engineering

• At least one working system you took end-to-end into mass production

• Background in medical regulated domains

• AI embedded in your daily engineering workflow, for real

• High-level English, written and spoken

Nice to have

• Project-company or freelance background: people who carry real ownership of what they deliver

• Multi-board projects and cables in Altium (preferred, not mandatory)

• B.Sc. in Electronics / Practical Engineer / Computer Science

• CAN, RS-485/RS-422, I2C, SPI, UART, BLE/Wi-Fi; RP, Microchip, Nordic, STM, ESP32; Zephyr RTOS

• A maker at heart

Work model: full-time, 4 days a week from the office. Offices are moving from Tel Aviv to the Rishon LeZion / Rehovot / Yavne area, so candidates from that region are strongly preferred.
