Vice President of Software Engineering

We are looking for an experienced VP R&D to lead a multidisciplinary R&D organization working across complex hardware and software environments.

This is a senior leadership role combining people management, technical leadership and hands-on engineering involvement. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who can lead the organization while remaining deeply engaged in technology, architecture and engineering challenges.

What You'll Do

• Take end-to-end responsibility for the R&D organization, including technology, development, quality and delivery.

• Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary engineering organization across software, hardware and additional technological disciplines.

• Define and execute the R&D strategy, technology roadmap and development methodologies in alignment with company and product objectives.

• Provide strong technical leadership and hands-on guidance, including architecture reviews, design decisions, technical problem solving and code reviews.

• Maintain a high level of technical involvement and act as a technical authority for the engineering organization.

• Participate in code reviews and review technical implementations, ensuring high engineering standards, code quality, scalability, maintainability and best practices.

• Lead multiple complex development projects from concept to production, ensuring high-quality execution and predictable delivery.

• Work closely with Product and senior leadership on product strategy, roadmap and technical priorities.

• Build a strong engineering culture focused on technical excellence, ownership, execution, collaboration and continuous learning.

• Recruit, mentor, coach and retain high-performing engineers and engineering leaders.

• Drive effective collaboration between hardware and software teams and across multiple technological disciplines.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in software/R&D management, with a strong technical background.

• Strong hands-on software development background and a track record of remaining technically engaged while managing an organization.

• Current or recent hands-on experience with software development, including conducting code reviews and evaluating technical implementations.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, performance and software engineering best practices.

• Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary products and development environments.

• Experience defining and executing technology roadmaps and making architectural and technology decisions.

• Strong experience with Agile development methodologies and engineering best practices.

• Proven ability to recruit, build, motivate and retain high-performing engineering teams.

• Strong people-management skills, with the ability to coach managers, senior engineers and technical leaders.

• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills.

• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
